Launch of 20th Commemoration of 1994 Rwanda Genocide
“Kwibuka20”, a series of observances marking 20 years since the genocide in Rwanda, was launched in New York at an event co-organized by Permanent Mission of Rwanda to the UN and the UN Department of Public Information. “Kwibuka” means “remember” in Kinyarwanda.
Immaculée Ilibagiza (left), Rwandan genocide survivor and author of the book, “Left to Tell”, speaks at the event. At her side is Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
