Description
In observance of United Nations Day, a special concert, "Greece: Poetry in Music", was held at UN Headquarters. The concert programme consisted of performances by the National Symphony Orchestra of Greece, conducted by Andreas Pylarinos, tenor Rolando Villazón, pianist Jonathan Kelly, vocal soloists Foteini Darras, Tasos Apostolou and Andreas Smynakis. The orchestra presented the poetry of Odysseus Elytis (Nobel Laureate), Giorgos Seferis (Nobel Laureate) and Constantine Cavafy, set to music by composers Manos Chatzidakis, Mikis Theodorakis, Spyros Samaras, Demetris Lagios and Demetris Papadimitriou.
