This morning in the Security Council, Pakistan urged the immediate introduction of a United Nations Force into the Kashmir area, in order to protect the state and its internal security. Making the demand, the Pakistani Foreign Minister, Mr. Feroze Khan Noon, also asked that all the other forces – Indian, Pakistani and local – be disbanded, and that “an early and firm date be fixed” for the induction of a U.N. plebiscite administrator, under whose auspices an impartial plebiscite would be conducted, as previously advocated by the Council.
This picture, taken in the Security Council chamber before the opening of the meeting, shows the Begum Ikramullah, one of Pakistan’s representatives to the current session of the General Assembly, having an informal conversation with Mr. Khan Noon.
